Miss & Mr Liverpool 2013 in association with Hampson Hughes Solicitors

Huge congratulations to the beautiful Jade Bulmer, who won the title of Miss Liverpool 2013 and to Josh Gordon, who was award Mr Liverpool 2013 on Friday evening (22nd March) at the prestigious event held at the Olympia.

The event was organised by Pat Hughes and assisted by Hannah Lomas from Red Events. It was Hampson Hughes Solicitors first year as sponsors and the event ran as planned despite snow taking over the city for Liverpool from early Friday morning!

Juice FM Breakfast Show hosts Adam & Leanne compared the night, introducing each of the contestants and all evening entertainment. The bands ‘Indigo City’ and ‘The Valentine Brothers’ provided musical entertainment and there were also truly inspirational solo performances from Charlotte Gallagher, Sophie Ben-Yousef, Kaitlin Thompson, Danny Pye and from Sam Heller with the Liverpool Signing Choir.

The judging panel included Hampson Hughes founding partners Paul Hampson and John Hughes, as well as Camilla Al Fayed – the youngest daughter of billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed.
WAG Dani Lawrence, partner of LFC goalie Brad Jones & Radio City’s Breakfast Show host Simon Ross were involved, joined by the stunning Mersey-born Bollywood actress Amy Jackson (a previous Miss Liverpool winner herself!)
Christine Cartwright – owner of Impact Models Agency and Matt Case from Liverpool jewellers Russell completed the judging panel. Russell & Case also donated a unique one off piece of jewellery to be given to the 2013 winner of Miss Liverpool.

Money was also raised through event ticket sales, raffle ticket purchase and general donations for the charities Zoe’s Place (of which Camilla Al Fayed is a patron) and St Mark’s Charity.

Severe weather conditions on Friday evening did cause a delay in the judges getting to the Olympia for the event, however they made it safely and the event finally got underway with the 24 Miss Liverpool contestants being judged on stage in the 3 rounds of judging of swimwear, eco-friendly wear and evening wear.

Eco-friendly ‘Rags to Riches’ wear was designed & constructed for each contestant by Liverpool Community College fashion students.

The fashion students have spent weeks working with their individual Miss Liverpool contestant, researching various Eco and Ethical brands, to construct a garment using only recycled materials.
Each garment was fitted and precisely measured to each Miss Liverpool contestant, with the winning Eco Garment creatively constructed by Rachel Ward and Ashleigh Kindlen (1st year Btech Level 3 Fashion and Clothing students)

Following the Eco-Friendly round, the girls and boys of this year’s competition had their final chance to impress the judges with evening wear. The girls elegantly strutted in dresses of their own choosing, and boys in classic evening suits.

After this final eveningwear round, the winners of Miss and Mr Liverpool 2013 were announced – Jade Bulmer and Josh Gordon.

Not only did the contestants have the chance to be crowned Miss & Mr Liverpool, there were also extra titles to be won – including Miss & Mr Amazing Hair, Miss & Mr Photogenic and Miss & Mr Beautiful body.

Hair for the evening was tousled into beautiful styles by Minsky’s Hair, Bold Street and the make up for each of the Miss Liverpool Contestant’s was expertly applied by Elaine and her team from Dolly Face.

Miss and Mr Liverpool will now become ambassadors for Liverpool. Both will have the opportunity to select and help raise funds for their chosen charity, as was as helping local communities.

Hampson Hughes Solicitors Paul Hampson, one of the judges for the evening, said ‘Despite the cold and snowy delay the event was truly an experience. The winner, Jade Bulmer, was not only stunning but had a fantastic personality. It was really close between the Miss Liverpool contestants who came 2nd and 3rd as the judges felt they were equally elegant, beautiful and also had great personalities – it was very hard to pick who should get 2nd & 3rd place. We have very much enjoyed the build-up to the event, I was very proud to be a part of the event for the first time this year’

Both Jade and Josh will be entered into Miss and Mr England 2013, for the chance of becoming Miss or Mr World 2013.

From Hampson Hughes Solicitors, we wish them good luck and success with everything in the future and the next stages of this competition for them both.
