Lancashire Police has this morning confirmed the death of a motorcyclist in an incident that took place just after 7.10am on Yew Tree Road, Ormskirk.

The man, thought to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Reports suggest the crash involved a collision between his motorcycle and a car.

A police spokesperson said that an investigation was underway, and that a road closure between Yew Tree Road’s junctions with Burscough Road and Grimshaw Lane was in effect.
