International Women’s Day – A Chat with Sophie
Ahead of International Women’s Day, we are celebrating some of the women that make Hampson Hughes. To kickstart the week, we spoke to Sophie Doran. Sophie has been working at Hampson Hughes for two years and is starting her training contract today!
Sophie Doran, Trainee Solicitor:
I began working at Hampson Hughes Solicitors in June 2018 as a First Response Advisor in the Road Traffic Accident department which was invaluable experience, teaching me the importance of taking detailed instructions at the start of a claim as well as learning the claims process. I was also studying for my LPC, alongside working full time which meant that I had to be extremely organised and manage my time well.
Within a few months of joining Hampson Hughes, I was given the opportunity to progress to work as a Paralegal in the EL/PL department. I learnt a lot in this role, as I was given great learning opportunities such as shadowing court hearings, attending conferences with Counsel and attending training seminars and networking events. All of this experience assisted with my LPC studies and led to me successfully completing my LPC in August 2019 which was a very proud moment for me, as it requires a great deal of dedication and commitment to work full time and study at the same time.
Throughout my studies I was supported by the management and colleagues at Hampson Hughes and I believe that without that support I would not be in the position that I am in today, starting my training contract with the firm.
I am really excited to start my training contract and looking forward to developing my skills and experience further before qualifying as a Solicitor.
