London: 9 Injured in Tower Bridge Boat Crash
A Millennium City Cruises vessel has collided with the North side of Tower Bridge, injuring 9 people.
Of the 9 people injured, 5 women were taken to hospital for emergency treatment – one woman was taken as a priority to the Royal London Hospital after paramedics discovered that she had sustained injuries to her pelvis and head.
The London Ambulance Service stated that:
We sent three ambulance crews, a hazardous area response
team and a duty officer to the scene.”Staff treated nine patients. A 64-year-old woman suffered pelvis and head
injuries and was taken as a priority to the major trauma
centre at Royal London Hospital.
“Four women were treated for minor injuries and also taken to the Royal London.
A man and a girl were treated for minor injuries and made their own way
to hospital, while two other women were checked at the scene but
did not require further treatment in hospital.”
The marine policing unit of the Metropolitan Police attended the scene, where the London Coastguard coordinated the rescue.
The bridge remained open during the rescue operation.
