£4,650 Secured after Bulgarian Holiday is Ruined
Our Travel Law team were recently instructed by two clients who contracted holiday illness while on holiday in Bulgaria.
Poor food & hygiene standards
Our clients booked a two week stay at the all inclusive 4* Hotel Bellevue in September last year. As the holiday was booked as an all-inclusive package, the claimants ate at the hotel restaurant throughout their stay.
Unfortunately, food and hygiene standards within the restaurant were not of a four star standard – especially with regards to the buffet style that was served to guests. Our clients report:
• Food was often tepid in temperature and was left uncovered
• The food was of poor quality
• Meat and fish products were served partially cooked
• Food appeared to have been reheated
• Members of the catering team did not monitor the temperature of the food served
• Hot food was often added to cooler food of the same type
Vomiting & diarrhoea
After eating at the hotel restaurant on a number of occasions, the claimants began to develop symptoms associated with food poisoning. The pair suffered with diarrhoea and vomiting, as well as abdominal cramps, nausea, fatigue and a raised temperature.
As a result of their illness, our clients’ overall holiday experience was ruined and even basic activities such as swimming were restricted. Towards the latter part of their stay at the Bellevue, our clients could not venture too far from their hotel room due to the severity of their symptoms.
Our expert Travel Law team managed to secure a total of £2,350 in compensation for each client on this occasion.
Commenting on the service they received from Hampson Hughes Solicitors’ Travel Law team, our clients said:
“Great company, very happy!”
“Very professional and reliable service. Very happy with the service and I would use Hampson Hughes Solicitors again!”
