Client awarded £2,329 for Workplace Accident
Our client was proceeding with his normal work duties. The head chef was cleaning around the bench where our client was working when he knocked over a number of industrial chopping boards which fell on to our clients foot.
He experienced immediate severe pain over his left foot. He attended Halton Hospital where X-rays were taken and were reported as a crush injury. He was unable to weight bear on his left leg due to the severity of the pain in his foot. He developed rapid bruising over his foot and swelling the next day. The swelling resolved three to four weeks later, the pain resolving six weeks after the accident.
Our client was absent from work for four to five days as a result of his injuries, and as he was self-employed, incurred financial losses due to this absence. He experienced difficulties at work as the pain in his left foot was aggravated by standing for prolonged periods. Our client also reported restricted domestic chores for four to five weeks following the accident and difficulties with vacuuming and mopping.
A total of £2,329 was secured in compensation.
